Hello there, my name is Lena. I have been practicing Wing Chun Kung Fu for many years.
Today I'm going to show you some basic stances which are often used in this style.
Basic Square Stance
You have to begin with this movement. At the end your fingertips must be at eyebrows. This high. Then make your palms facing away from you. And do this movement.
It can be interpreted as the defense of hand wrist grab. Like this. See again.
Then bend your knees. Move your toes and then move your heels.
And move your pelvis forward.
There is one easy exercise. Lower your hips and then raise its up. Do this several times.
You have to learn feel all your body's movements.
Right Square Stance
To assume the square stance, distribute your weight equally on both feet and bend your knees. Position your hands at the centrerline (joan sien), placing your right hand forward of the left. The palm of you back hand must be near the elbow of your front hand. Like this.
Left Square Stance
Remain in the square stance, but place your left hand forward of the right hand.
Right Stance
To assume a right stance from the square stance, move your right leg forward, but distribute most of your weight on the back leg.
Attention to your feet! Feet are at least shoulder width apart or slightly greater.
There is an imaginary line on the floor.
The heel of the front foot is on one side of this line and the toes of the back foot on another side of the line.
Continue to guard the centerline.
Left Stance
The left stance is the reverse of the right stance.
Right Sitting Horse Stance
From the square stance assume the right sitting horse stance (jor mah) by turning your body toward the right. Keep most of your weight on the right foot. Lower your left hand, turn your palm toward the floor, and bring it across your body until it is in line with the right hand.
Left Sitting Horse Stance
The left sitting horse stance is just the opposite of the right stance.

These two guys may seem way too young to be in the ring, right? But wait till you see how good they are. More specifically, how good the boy in the red singlet is. The boys are off to an intense start, looking for each other’s weak spots. In a while it sort of becomes clear the red guy is taking over. He struggles to keep his opponent on the ground and what can we say, he seems to be pretty good at that. Finally, when the moment and position are right, the boy performs a beautiful, pretty much flawless suplex. The fight is stopped obviously, and it takes the boy in blue a while to bring himself together. A definite win for our guy in red, and yet another beautiful suplex – and knockout – video. Now we have proof you don’t need age and that much experience to be able to work wonders in the ring. The video ends with a few slowed down replays of this truly spectacular sequence. The technique is truly superb, don’t you think? Both the coach and the boy did a fantastic job. Touché, a flawless victory. Stay tuned for more amazing suplex videos and other knockout movies!

Part One: Shuffle Hop Step1. Begin with your hands on your hips and do two shuffle hop steps. The first shuffle hop step involves you picking up your right foot and raising it in the air behind you.2. Do a brush forward with your right foot by brushing your toe across the floor. Follow it with a quick spank backwards.3. Hop once on your standing left leg, and then stamp down with your foot that's in the air. You should end this first sequence in your original position with both feet on the floor.4. Now, you'll perform another shuffle hop step but starting with your left foot this time. This will complete the first two moves.Part Two: Shuffle Ball Change1. For the next step, you'll do a shuffle ball change. Start with your right foot in the air and brush forward and spank backwards with your toe.2. After the shuffle, finish the move with a ball change in which you shift your weight from your left foot to your right foot and back, ending with your weight on your left foot.
Part Three: Toe and Heel Drops1. Next, step out to the right and clap.
2. From here, you're going to do a toe heelstarting with your left foot. Step with your left toe out to the left and drop your heel.3. After you drop your left heel, pick your right leg up and do a shuffle to the left side with your right foot.4. Finish the shuffle with your feet together on the floor and do a heel drop.Part Four: Slide1. Next, starting with your right leg, step out with your heel and step back to bring your feet together. 2. Repeat this with your left leg and bring your feet together again. 3. Then, repeat this heel step one more time with your right leg but turn slightly to the right when you do to straighten out the direction you're facing.4. Finally, spread both feet out to the side and slide them across the floor pulling with your inner thighs to bring them together.

Kobudo (å¤æ¦é“ ) means old martial ways. It refers usually to forms of martial arts that were formed before the Meiji restoration of 1868.
There are two categories of kobudo; Nihon No Kobudo (日本ã®å¤æ¦é“ ) which refers to mainland Japanese martial arts, such as kenjutsu, jujutsu, sojutsu, bojutsu, naginatajutsu, shurikenjutsu, etc. Essentially martial arts used by the Samurai warrior caste. Training methods for this category are almost always paired when practical. Some of the older schools such as Shosho-ryu, Yagyu Shingan-ryu & Takenouchi-ryu still have techniques that are used in period armour, referred to as Kacchu bujutsu (甲冑æ¦è¡“ ).
The other category is Ryukyu Kobudo (ç‰çƒå¤æ¦é“ ) or Okinawa no Kobudo (沖縄ã®å¤æ¦é“ ) which is refers to martial arts originating from the Ryukyu archipelago or Okinawa. The origins and training methods in this category of kobudo are very different from it's mainland Japanese counterpart, due to Chinese cultural influences. Ryukyu/Okinawa no Kobudo includes bojutsu (different in format to Japanese bojutsu), nunchakujutsu, saijutsu, tonfajutsu, suruchinjutsu and kempo/te/karate. Training methods are done solo in kata form to record and preserve technique as a database and then paired in kumite form to teach oyo/bunkai.

Mastery's dedication to our students and our communities extends beyond our academy walls. We have partnered with several local organizations whose good deeds have changed lives. And, we have raised thousands of dollars for local groups, while training our students to become lifelong leaders.
In five years, we have raised over $100,000 for the Gloria Gemma Breast Cancer Resource Foundation. We are a large part of their annual Flames of Hope WaterFire, which brings Mastery families together as volunteers. We have raised nearly $15,000 for the Rhode Island Community Food Bank and have held four food basket brigades for the Trudeau Center, collecting nearly 4,000 food items for people in need. We have taught free bully prevention programs at area schools. Our instructors and students have cleaned up Johnston Memorial Park. We have collected cell phones for victims of domestic violence. Instructors have taught free classes to adults and children impacted by ADHD for CHADD and have taught basic martial arts to the homeless at McAuley House. We have team building and communications to professionals, including camp counselors, day care teachers, corporate managers, occupational therapists, and college professors. We have even donated autism training to educators in Rhode Island as a result of raising over $10,000 for The Autism Project in two years.
Our short-term school programs are offered free, with schools using our programs as fundraisers. In 2011-2012, we raised over $2,400 for four Cranston Public Schools alone. Day cares, community organizations, and more have benefited from our fundraising programs. Everything from playground equipment to field day T-shirts, to new carpeting has been funded by Mastery's after-school fundraising programs.
Students from our three-year-old Little Dragons to grandparents participate in these endeavors, not because they have to, but because service is part of what Mastery believes in for those on their journey towards black belt.
